Healthier Together: Building the Future of Local Healthcare

Because Care Should Be Close to Home

In our rural region of northeast Oregon, access to high-quality healthcare isn’t just a convenience—it’s a necessity. The Healthier Together campaign is a bold, community-powered initiative to grow Grande Ronde Hospital and Clinics, ensuring that exceptional care remains accessible, local, and centered on the people who live here.

Where We Started

When we launched the Healthier Together campaign, our vision was clear: to expand access, increase capacity, and invest in the future of healthcare right here at home. With an original goal of raising $7.5 million, we set out to:

Expand and modernize our surgical services department
Remodel and enlarge the Regional Medical Clinic
Invest in workforce development through education, training, and tuition reimbursement
Prepare our main hospital for the future by reimagining care spaces

We knew we couldn’t do it alone—this campaign would only succeed together, with the support of our generous community.

What We've Accomplished

As the campaign progressed, so did the needs of our hospital and our community. Rising costs, increased patient volume, and expanding care opportunities—especially in rural telehealth and workforce development—meant that the original scope of the Healthier Together campaign needed to grow.

In response, we raised our goal from $7.5 million to $8.5 million to ensure we could meet these critical, evolving priorities and keep delivering the high-quality care our region deserves.

Thanks to hundreds of local donors, key foundation partners, and the unwavering belief in our mission, we’ve already raised more than $8.19 million toward that expanded goal. Some of the highlights include:

A $5 million grant from the State of Oregon
Major support from the MJ Murdock Charitable Trust, Ford Family Foundation, Roundhouse Foundation, and other regional partners
Funding secured toward the future acquisition of a da Vinci robotic surgical assist system, which will bring advanced, minimally invasive surgical technology to our rural hospital
Telehealth technology that brings specialty care closer to home
Growing our provider team and rural workforce training programs

This incredible momentum shows what’s possible when a community comes together around a shared vision.

Where We’re Going

Even though we’ve surpassed our original fundraising goal, the work of Healthier Together is far from over. Every additional dollar raised allows us to:

Complete the Regional Medical Clinic remodel
Begin essential updates to our main hospital facilities
Expand workforce education and retention programs to meet long-term community needs

This next phase ensures we’re not just building capacity for today, but for the decades ahead.
